NOP: important updating on livestock

usdaWith this circular Bioagricert wishes to update operators on the modification of the NOP standard effective from 6 June 2022 concerning the introduction of animals on farms for milk production.

The USDA implemented the NOP rule to clarify the ban on introducing conventional or in-conversion animals after the herd was first established.

  • In the case of the first establishment, it is possible to convert animals present on the farm or to acquire conventional animals to be converted to the organic method according to the conversion times envisaged by the species.
  • Once the stable has been converted, only organic animals managed with the organic method must be introduced at least from the last third of the gestation.

Further information is available in the attachments HERE.

Companies will be required to provide evidence of the above during the inspection visits.

Bioagricert staff Is available for any clarification.
