Organic Production – Updates on Substances Allowed under EU Standards

With EU Regulation 2501/2025, the European Commission:

  • extends the possibility of using pea and potato proteins (currently allowed only for wine production) as technological aids for the clarification of fruit juices, fruit wines, and mead;
  • establishes a further postponement to January 1, 2028 for the definition of the lists of substances that can be used for cleaning and disinfection. For this reason, the list currently in force (formerly Annex VII of Regulation EC 889/2008) will remain valid until December 31, 2027.
