The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Organic Program (NOP) has requested that the below message about new Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) imports codes for organic products is communicated to the CBs.
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has approved twenty-nine (29) new Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) imports codes for organic products. The new HTS codes became effective Wednesday, July 1, 2026. This means that going forward, U.S. organic importers filing entries with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) must use these new codes and these entries must be accompanied by a valid NOP Import Certificate (NOPIC) number. We understand that CBs will have clients with valid NOPICs that have already been issued and contain the old HTS codes effective at the time of issuance. These NOPICs remain valid and can be submitted with the required CBP filing.
