From farming to finished products, controls and certification ensure that organic standards are met across the entire supply chain. The new Italian Organic Label, one of the highlights of SANA Food 2027, strengthens the visibility and recognition of Italian organic production.
Organic production is built on rules, inspections, verification and full traceability. Compliance must be demonstrated step by step — from cultivation to processing, packaging and labelling. Certification plays a key role here: it verifies adherence to EU regulations and ensures that every stage of the product’s journey is traceable and accountable.
The New Italian Organic Label A major innovation has recently been introduced: the Italian Organic Label, established by the decree of 26 May 2026 and published in the Official Gazette on 13 July. This voluntary mark is reserved for organic products made from Italian raw materials and aims to make the origin of Italian organic goods even more recognizable, offering consumers an additional element of clarity and trust. Its role — together with that of certification — will be a central topic at SANA Food 2027.
Key Supply Chains at SANA Food 2027 Extra‑virgin olive oil, fermented foods, ancient grains, flours and pasta, legumes and plant proteins, fresh and dried fruit: five clusters showcasing the diversity and continuous evolution of the organic world. Different supply chains, united by quality, origin, transparency and traceability.
Certification as a Driver of Value For consumers, certification is a guarantee. For companies, it is a powerful tool to strengthen credibility and enhance the value of their products. At SANA Food 2027, the discussion will focus on how certification — together with new forms of recognition — can help reinforce the value of Italian organic production.
